Nora has B.S. in Applied Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago M.Ed. & Infant Mental Health Certification from the Erikson Institute (Chicago), & Infant Toddler Family Specialist Certification from NC IT. Her training also includes completing workshops for Evidence based interventions, Attachment & Biobehavioral Catch-up, Triple P Level 3 & Stepping Stones and Sensory Processing.

 

She has been a developmental specialist since 1990 working with children birth-5 in the inner city of Chicago, military setting in Germany, Johnston Ct. & now in Wake County. She has presented workshops on child development & inclusion at National Smart Start conferences & National Association for the Education of Young Children conferences as well as at child care centers around the Raleigh area. She also provide training about attachment, sensory processing & toxic stress to parents & professionals in Wake County. She coordinate the Wake County Young Child Mental Health Collaborative. I was voted “Direct Care Professional of the Year” by the ARC of Wake County in 2014. While Nora has a wealth of experience to draw from, including many developmental and genetic conditions (Hurler's Syndrome, Rett Syndrome, Noonan's Syndrome, Fragile X, Cri du Chat, Angelman Syndrome, Klippel Feil Syndrome, Prader Willi, Dandy Walker, agenesis of the corpus collosum, & Sturge-Weber, Kleefstra Syndrome, Microdeletion syndrome) her professional passion is for Young Child Mental Health/Social Emotional/Behavioral issues. She has particular interest in Sensory Processing and the role of nutrition on development. She works with children in their home, child care center, or in any community setting that is part of a child's day. She works closely with parents to help them learn about what their child can do.

 

Nora lives in Cary with her husband and son. She is involved in the world of special needs from both a personal & professional perspective. Her brother has developmental disabilities and she has two nephews with Muscular Dystrophy.
