Payton attended East Carolina University for her undergraduate and graduate trainings in Communication Sciences and Disorders. At ECU Payton was involved in evidence based research presentations and posters at the local and national level.

Payton’s professional experience includes treating children and adults with a variety of etiologies and treatment goals. She is trained in LSVT-LOUD (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) for patients with Parkinson’s Disease and holds certification in Pediatric LSVT-LOUD for children with motor speech disorders.  She also has experience with assessing and rehabilitating cognitive speech, language, voice, and dysphasia disorders. She is certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Consequences of TBI in adults. Payton is well versed in providing treatment for patients with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Her clinical experience at the VA expanded her knowledge of working with veterans and their families.

Payton also enjoys working with pediatric populations and has knowledge of assessment and treatment of wide variety of speech and language disorders including children with articulation delays, phonological disorders, fluency disorders, Autism, Social Skills, AAC, cleft palate, pediatric feeding/swallowing, and developmental language disorders. Payton provides therapy services both via teletherapy and face to face inpatient appointments. Payton’s professional interests include pediatric feeding disorders, working with birth- three populations and Childhood Apraxia of Speech.

Payton’s interests outside of her work as speech-language pathologist include gardening, baking, DIY crafts, home projects, and spending time relaxing with her friends and family.
