Cassie Pinder
Speech Language Pathologist
Cassie received her undergraduate degree in Communications from North Carolina State University and her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Syracuse University. Cassie holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed by the boards of North Carolina and Maryland.
Cassie has clinical experience working with children in a variety of settings including clinics, elementary schools, and high schools. Time spent in the public school system embedded an understanding of utilizing a child’s individualized strengths to foster engaged skill development and progress towards goals. She is determined to establish, develop, and facilitate each child’s ability to access and communicate with the world around them. Cassie has experience trialing, programming, and working with high-tech augmentative and alternative communication systems including PODD in Grid, Proloquo2Go, TouchChat with WordPower, and LAMP Words for Life. She also has experience with low-tech augmentative and alternative communication systems including PECS, core word boards, communication books such as PODD, and single message recordable buttons.
Cassie has evaluated and treated children with articulation and phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), pragmatic language disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, and fluency disorders.
Cassie has clinical experience working with adults in a variety of settings including clinics and skilled nursing facilities (short-term and long-term patients). Working as a healthcare professional has instilled a determination to work alongside patients and caregivers to rehabilitate and/or compensate to maximize life participation and safety. Cassie has evaluated and treated adults with Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, traumatic and nontraumatic brain injuries, aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech (AOS), fluency disorders, voice disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Head and Neck Cancer, Dysphagia, cognitive communication disorders, tracheostomy tubes, and speaking valves.
Cassie is a new North Carolina resident and is happy to be back to cheer on the NC State Wolfpack in-person. Cassie often spends her free time baking new recipes, reading books, playing with her dog, or painting.
