Ellen received her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University. Ellen holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed by the board of North Carolina.
Ellen has clinical experience working with children in a variety of settings including daycares, homes, clinics, and elementary schools. Her time in the public school system and in private practice taught her the importance of collaboration with other professionals (teachers, OT, PT, etc.) to create
individualized treatment plans that support each child as a whole. She also is passionate about partnering with families to promote more meaningful and functional speech and language progress for their child.
Ellen has treated and evaluated children with articulation/phonology disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, fluency disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, pragmatic/social language disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Down Syndrome. She enjoys using Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) and principles of motor learning to treat motor
speech disorders and speech sound disorders. Ellen has experience working with both low and high tech augmentative and alternative communication systems including core boards, communication books, and devices with Proloquo2Go, LAMP Words for Life, TouchChat, and TD Snap.
Ellen is a new mom to a sweet baby boy and loves exploring all Raleigh has to offer with her husband, and dog, Gibbs.
