Jennifer Dilallo
Speech-Language Pathologist, Spanish and Portugeuse Services
Jennifer has supported many people in developing their communication - from infants to older adults, across multiple languages, and in a variety of settings (including in-person and virtual services).
Jennifer has experience working with the following conditions: Aphasia (from stroke and/or brain injury); Apraxia of Speech (Developmental or Acquired); Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC); Autism, Social Communication, Sensory Processing, and/or ADHD (with a neurodiversity-affirming approach); Cleft Lip and/or Palate; Developmental Delay; Down Syndrome; Dysarthria; Dyslexia and Literacy / Phonological Awareness; Executive Functioning / Cognition; Fluency and Stuttering; Fragile X Syndrome; Hearing Impairment/Loss; Language Delays and Disorders; Selective Mutism; Speech Sound / Phonological Delays and Disorders; Tongue Thrust; and 22Q Deletion. She specializes in providing speech/language therapy services to multi-lingual/-cultural populations, with a research background and clinical focus on providing evidence-based care to a variety of communities. Jennifer speaks Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese with clients and families that communicate in those languages, though uses a collaborative and culturally-/linguistically-responsive approach throughout her practice. Her main clinical approaches include: client- and family-centric care, naturalistic and total communication strategies, unconditional positive regard, and developing (self-)advocacy among the communicators and caregivers that connect with her for therapy. A guiding motto for Jennifer’s services is: “All communication is valid communication” and (in Spanish) “Lo que sale, vale.”
Outside of work, Jennifer loves to travel, especially in North Carolina with the beach and mountains nearby. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Tatiana, and her wonderful partner, Gabriel - playing games, cooking, and taking “w-a-l-k”s together.
