Lauren Blake

Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical Director

Lauren has worked with a variety of pediatric and adult populations, though her passion is helping young children. Prior to joining Capitol City Speech Therapy, Lauren worked in the public school system and uses her experiences to help families navigate the IEP process.


Lauren has specialized training in working with children with hearing impairment, Autism, social and behavior disorders, language based literacy disorders, and severe speech sound disorders including Verbal Apraxia. Lauren is has advanced training in Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) and experience using Rapid Syllable Transition (ReST) and Speech Motor Chaining for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Lauren has completed extensive training in auditory verbal strategies for targeting listening and speaking skills for Deaf/Hard of Hearing population. She has completed training for systematic literacy instruction with the Hill Center with a focus on phonological awareness and phonics instruction. She enjoys working with children with executive functioning deficits and social communication difficulties and has led social groups using Social Thinking materials. She also has experience using alternative methods of communication such as picture exchange, Touch Chat, Snap Core, Words for Life, core boards and basic sign language. Lauren strives to make therapy fun, engaging and functional so that patients and families can easily take ownership of their progress and integrate good communication in everyday life.


Lauren provides in-person therapy in our Fuquay offices as well as teletherapy services. 


Lauren is a Raleigh native and graduate of NC State and the University of Georgia. Away from work, she enjoys sewing, cooking and spending time with her husband Cameron.
