Tracy Assante

Speech-Language Pathologist

Tracy is a graduate of State University of New York at Stony Brook and has her Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Adelphi University.

Tracy has experience treating a wide variety of speech and language disorders and specializes in treatment for young children and school-aged populations. She especially enjoys working with children with fluency disorders, Apraxia of Speech, and children who are non-verbal. She treats pediatric feeding disorders using behavioral feeding intervention and techniques designed for reduction of oral aversion and hypersensitivity. Her previous work for the public school system as a school based SLP and RTI (Response to instruction/intervention) team member, has given her the understanding needed to collaborate with the school based SLPs and facilitate the process from RTI (general education) to IEP (special education). Tracy values the importance of collaboration and continued education in order to provide research based intervention that is individualized to meet the needs of each client and his or her family.

Prior to the pandemic Tracy had already been interested and taken professional development on teletherapy. The pandemic changed the way education, work place, and healthcare looked. This challenge caused the need for a different delivery model for speech therapy. She has been working a teletherapy schedule for over 2 years and put this delivery model to the test. It has been so successful that she encourages people to continue the delivery model with or without a pandemic.

She has a passion for healthy eating and exercise and enjoys spending time with her two sons.
