Teletherapy for
Adults and Pediatrics
Capitol City Speech Therapy now offers teletherapy services for both our pediatric and adult populations. Covid-19 forced the healthcare industry to re-assess service delivery options, but after more than 2 years of wide spread virtual intervention of speech therapy, we now have many anecdotal success stories as well as reliable research studies that show teletherapy can be as equally effective compared to traditional in person intervention.
If you have more questions about teletherapy, or would like to speak to someone about if teletherapy would be a good fit for your needs, please call our office at 919-577-6807.

What can I expect from Teletherapy?

You may have some questions or concerns about teletherapy, such as:
-
Will my young child will be asked to sit at a computer?
-
Will my school aged child be too distracted to stay focused on a computer?
-
Is in person therapy more effective than virtual therapy?
The reality is that for our pediatric patients:
-
the therapist will be guiding and instructing the caregiver in real time while they play with their child in their natural environment with their own toys. This will give the caregivers practice while the clinician is present so that they can carryover the same techniques throughout the week on their own.
-
if your child enjoys electronics, TV, or video games they may excel in an interactive teletherapy session.
-
the computer screen may help take away the pressure of eye contact/social interaction just because it’s not in person

For our adult patients:
-
teletherapy sessions allow for increased flexibility in scheduling around your work schedule
-
teletherapy sessions may allow for your support system to observe or participate in sessions more consistently
